Suggest treatment For Pain And Burning Sensation While Urinating

Hi there, I have a 9 year old son who says it burns when he pees, and also is complaining about stomach pains. I took him to the doctors and she put him on antibiotics and tested his urine for a blatter infection. She phoned yesterday to say that the test was negitive and to take him off the antibiotics. He had a ultra sound on Monday but won't get the results back for the next 3 - 5 business days. He is still complaining about it burning when he pees and I dont no what I can do to ease his pain other than tylenol. The doctor doesnt seem to be that concerned but am wondering if I should take him to the hospital for a second opinion and to make sure that it is nothing serious. Thoughts?

Hello
Thanks for query.Based on the facts that you have posted your son seems to have UTI.

Please get his routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.Routine urine test does not confirm UTI it is confirmed only by doing urine culture

Please give him broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkalizer thrice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure he drinks more water .To keep his urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.

The associated pain that he has may be due to stone in kidney which will be revealed in Scanning report that you are expected to get within 3-4 days .

Further treatment will depend upon the result of these tests and final diagnosis.
